I’m Only Five Years Behind Schedule, According to Malcolm Gladwell

While working on my latest project at work, I just realized that — at some point in the recent past — I crossed some threshold. I no longer worry that I won’t figure out how to do something at all. Now I only worry that I’ll do it the wrong way.

A pretty big step. And it only took 15 goddamn years as an online designer/developer to get there.

  1. I think I’ve crossed a similar threshold. Now I am totally comfortable knowing enough to get by in lots of technical areas, with no deep knowledge of any one of them. This is okay and will not change.

And it only took three goddamn years for you to post again. I knew I’d been holding onto this RSS feed for good reason.

  2. Yeah, it’s not easy to make peace with that. I mean, I think it’s good to be that way, but I worry the rest of the world would rather you be exceptional in a few narrow areas.
